Sid Koop - for Leaders
Growing Resilience in Your Students
We live in a time where our students struggle with their mental health and anxiety at alarming rates. One theologian has said that the popular cultural worldview provides the least amount of resources for people to suffer well. And the data seems to indicate that’s true. But as mentors and youth leaders, we have an opportunity to invest in our students, in a way that can make them strong, firm and steadfast. This breakout will give us a biblical foundation for building resilience, and 6 (maybe 7) practical steps to apply those truths.
ABOUT SID
Sid is the Executive Director of the Youth Worker Community which has shaped ministry to adolescents in Canada through various research project partnerships (Renegotiating Faith and Hemorrhaging Faith), youth worker training conferences (equipping thousands of youth workers each year), and now consulting and coaching. He continues to speak regularly to teenagers and is passionate about helping the next generation see and experience the truth of Jesus Christ.

Through honest conversation, faith, and practical tools, this breakout is a reminder that you are not alone, and that there is hope.

How to identify and respond to different types of suffering
Not all pain looks the same, so our response shouldn’t be “one size fits all.” Whether it’s mental, physical, or spiritual, suffering is complex—but your response doesn’t have to be confusing. Join us as we explore how Jesus modeled empathy, truth, and presence. This breakout will equip you to identify and respond to different types of suffering.

Heart of Worship
Worship is more than a genre of music—it’s a posture of the soul. In this breakout, we’ll dive into what it actually means to give Jesus our worship. Move past the technicalities of music and into the heart of the Father, equipping you to encounter God’s presence whether you’re in a crowded stadium or alone in your room.
ABOUT STEPH
Micah met Steph at North Central University in downtown Minneapolis. Micah shares about how he would walk into chapel and hear the voice of an angel singing as Steph would lead Chapel worship and travel on the Schools worship team across the country. It wasn’t long after graduating North Central that they would get married and both be on staff at Cedar Valley Church in Bloomington, MN. Micah was a youth pastor and Steph was a worship pastor. After several years working in the local church they sensed God asking them to take a step of faith and go on the road full time. For the last three years they have been ministering to thousands as God has opened every door of opportunity. They currently are “staff evangelists” and contracted worship leaders at Zoe Church in Burnsville, MN. For fun you can find them hanging with their kids at a water park, local gym, or local restaurant as they love GOOD FOOD! They are so honored that you would take the time to get to know a little bit more about them.

Who Do You Think You Are!?
Who do you think you are!? If you don’t know, you’ll let anything define you. And whatever defines you, you’ll eventually worship.
This talk exposes how identity confusion leads us to build idols out of seemingly good things. Popularity. Relationships. Success. Even church.
When we forget who we are in Christ, we start replacing Him without even realizing it. But, there’s a way back, in this talk we’ll set fire to idols and idle hearts.
